VANGUARD Series — Overview
The SEW VANGUARD Series is a range of high-pressure triplex plunger pumps designed and manufactured by System Engineering Works at our ISO 9001:2000 certified facility in Nashik, Maharashtra. Built to API 674 design standard with SS 316 wetted parts, VANGUARD pumps are used in chemical processing plants, RO and water treatment plants, hydrostatic testing, high-pressure fluid transfer, chemical dosing, and industrial misting applications across India.
Reference customers include Aarti Industries Ltd (Jhagadia, Gujarat), Welspun Specialty Solutions (Bharuch, Gujarat), and multiple chemical and steel processing plants across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.

Sub-Types
Jacketed Triplex Pump
For heated fluid applications where the product must be maintained above ambient temperature (e.g., molten wax, polymer solutions, high-viscosity resins). The pump cylinder is fitted with a steam or hot water jacket to maintain product temperature throughout the pump.
Gear Box Mounted Triplex Pump
Direct-drive configuration using a helical gearbox instead of belt drive. More compact, lower noise, and suitable for installations with limited horizontal space or where belt maintenance is impractical.
Bare Pump (Without Motor)
OEM supply configuration — pump skid without motor and starter, for integration into the customer's drive system. Used by OEMs and resellers including Reckon Techno (Nashik) and Shreya Engineering Works (Anand, Gujarat).
Industries and Applications
- Chemical Processing: Aarti Industries (Gujarat) — high-pressure chemical transfer and dosing
- RO and Water Treatment: CIP cleaning of RO membranes, boiler feed, ZLD plant high-pressure service
- Hydrostatic Testing: Pressure testing of pipelines, vessels, and components — ONGC, steel plant, and engineering applications
- Textile Processing: High-pressure dyeing and jet-dyeing machine feed
- Steel and Alloy: Descaling, high-pressure cutting, hydraulic press applications
- Agriculture: High-pressure misting and pesticide spraying
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a triplex pump and a duplex pump?
A triplex pump has 3 plungers firing in sequence, producing more even flow with less pulsation than a duplex (2-plunger) design. This makes triplex pumps preferred for chemical dosing, metering, and applications sensitive to pressure fluctuation. All SEW VANGUARD pumps are triplex design.
Can SEW supply a pump for pressures above 200 bar?
Yes. The VANGUARD Series extends to 800 KG/CM² for specialised applications. Contact SEW with your exact pressure, flow rate, and fluid specification for a custom quotation.
What is the lead time for a VANGUARD pump?
Small models (STP-20 to STP-60): 4–6 weeks from advance payment. Large models (STP-80 to STP-150): 14–16 weeks. Bare pump OEM supply: confirm at enquiry stage.
Can the VANGUARD pump handle corrosive chemicals?
The SS 316 wet end provides good resistance to most dilute acids, alkalis, and saline solutions. For highly corrosive fluids, Hastelloy or duplex stainless steel can be specified. Provide your fluid data sheet (pH, temperature, concentration) when enquiring so SEW can specify the correct materials.
