Hydrostatic & Pressure Testing of Pipes and Vessels

Overview

Every pressure vessel, pipeline, heat exchanger, and boiler in India must be hydrostatically tested before commissioning and at regular intervals — under IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations), IS 2825 for pressure vessels, IS 1239 for pipes, and client specifications for oil & gas and process piping. A failed hydrostatic test after fabrication means re-work, schedule delay, and cost overrun. A missed periodic test is a statutory compliance failure.

SEW's Vanguard Series triplex plunger pump pressurises test circuits to the required hold pressure — 1.5× to 2× working pressure, depending on applicable standard — and holds it stable for the test duration. Available for manual test circuits (bare pump) or complete test benches (skid package) for pipe fabricators, boiler manufacturers, vessel fabricators, and EPC contractors across India.

How It Works

The test circuit (pipe, vessel, or heat exchanger) is filled with water and connected to the triplex pump discharge. The pump raises system pressure to the required test pressure — typically 1.5× working pressure for pipelines, 2× working pressure for boilers under IBR. When target pressure is reached, the pump is isolated and pressure is held for the specified test duration (typically 30 minutes). A calibrated pressure gauge or transducer monitors for pressure drop indicating leakage.

Bare Unit Use

Pipe fabricators, boiler manufacturers, pressure vessel fabricators, and EPC contractors order the bare pump for integration into test bays or site testing rigs. Available in test pressure ranges from 50 bar to 200 bar. Stainless steel or cast iron wetted parts. Electric motor or diesel engine drive for site testing without power supply. Pump capacity: 40–200 LPM.

Skid Package Use

SEW supplies complete hydrostatic test benches: triplex high-pressure pump, motor, pressure regulator, relief valve, calibrated test pressure gauge, isolation valve, test circuit connection manifold, and water storage tank — all on a common skid. Used in: boiler manufacturer test bays (Pune, Coimbatore), pressure vessel fabricators (Gujarat, Maharashtra), pipe fabrication yards (Mumbai, Surat), and EPC site commissioning teams across India.

Why SEW

IBR and IS standard compliance — pump rated for test pressures required under IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) and IS 2825 pressure vessel standards. Used by IBR-registered boiler manufacturers.

50–200 bar test pressure range — covers low-pressure utility piping to high-pressure boiler and process vessel testing.

Diesel engine drive option — for site hydrostatic testing on pipeline projects and plant commissioning where grid power is unavailable.

Indian manufacturer, Nashik — IBR documentation support, local spare parts, fast delivery for project commissioning deadlines.
