
Chemical Dosing & Metering
Overview
Chemical dosing is one of the most precision-critical operations in Indian process plants. Overdose wastes expensive chemicals and contaminates the product stream. Underdose means incomplete reaction, failed treatment, or non-compliance with CPCB/MPCB effluent norms. In either case, the consequences are expensive.
SEW's Vanguard Series triplex plunger pump is built for this. Positive displacement mechanism — same volume delivered per stroke regardless of back-pressure. No drift. No performance degradation as system pressure rises. Flow range: 40–480 LPM. Pressure: up to 200 bar. Suitable for chemical metering into reactors, effluent systems, water treatment plants, and agricultural dosing systems across India.
How It Works
The triplex pump draws chemical from a day tank or bulk storage vessel through a foot valve and strainer. Three plunger cylinders fire in sequence — 120° apart — producing near-continuous discharge with low pulsation. Chemical injects into the process line through a check valve injection point. Dose rate is controlled by adjusting pump speed (VFD) or stroke length.
Because the pump is positive displacement, the volumetric output per revolution is fixed by plunger diameter and stroke. This makes dose rate calculation deterministic — no calibration curves, no back-pressure correction factors.
Bare Unit Use
EPC contractors and plant engineers order the bare triplex pump when they already have a day tank and injection system in place, or when integrating into an existing DCS-controlled dosing loop. The pump mounts to any standard baseplate. Available with SS 316 or duplex SS wetted parts for corrosive chemicals. Flow: 40–480 LPM, pressure: up to 200 bar.
Skid Package Use
SEW supplies complete chemical dosing skids: SS or PE day tank, triplex pump, VFD panel with flow totaliser, pressure gauge, safety relief valve, suction strainer, injection quill, drip tray — all on a common MS or SS skid frame. Ready to install. Used in: ETP dosing, water treatment, reactor feed, textile chemical metering, and pH correction systems across India.
