Boiler Feed & Thermic Fluid Heater Dosing

Overview

Packaged boilers and thermic fluid heaters need feedwater delivered at a fixed volume regardless of how furnace pressure fluctuates through a firing cycle — exactly what a positive-displacement pump does and a centrifugal pump doesn't. SE-Vanguard triplex plunger pumps deliver the same volume per stroke at pressures up to 800 kg/cm², holding feed rate steady as boiler demand swings between low-fire and high-fire.

This matters most on smaller and mid-capacity units — IBR-registered packaged boilers, thermic fluid heaters, and process steam generators — where a single feed pump often runs unattended for an entire shift and a pressure dip is the first sign of a scaling or cavitation problem downstream.

How It Works

Three plungers driven off a forged crankshaft draw feedwater through a suction valve and discharge it through a check valve on each stroke, producing a near-constant flow with minimal pulsation once fitted with a dampener. Ceramic-coated plungers and a modular valve assembly hold clearance as feedwater temperature and mild scaling deposits work against the seals over a duty cycle.

Bare Unit Use

Boiler and thermic fluid heater OEMs specify the bare SE-Vanguard pump head into their own skid, matched to the unit's rated steam or thermal output and feedwater pressure requirement.

Skid Package Use

Plants retrofitting or replacing a feed pump on an existing boiler house take the pump as a complete skid — motor, coupling guard, pressure gauge, relief valve and pulsation dampener pre-mounted and pressure-tested before dispatch — so it lands on an existing baseplate with minimal site fabrication.

Why SEW

SE-Vanguard pumps are built in Nashik to ISO 9001 with AISI 304/316 wetted parts as standard and Hastelloy B/C available where feedwater treatment chemicals demand it. 2,500+ units in the field since 2003, with same-day critical spares dispatch. In Gujarat's process-heat-heavy belt — Ankleshwar and Vadodara's GIDC estates — this pump also runs chemical injection into reactors and effluent treatment dosing duty on the same platform.
